The group was founded by Jade Kilduff to support her younger brother, Christian Kilduff. Christian was born with cerebral palsy, brain damage, and visual impairment, and doctors initially warned he might never walk or talk. Refusing to let those obstacles define his future, Jade began teaching him Makaton—a specialized form of sign language paired with speech and music—to help him communicate. What started as simple home lessons quickly grew into a community effort, eventually expanding into a inclusive choir featuring children and adults of all ages and abilities, along with their families.
The Iconic Audition
For their Britain’s Got Talent audition, the group took the stage with dozens of members, both young and old. They performed a powerful, uplifting rendition of “This Is Me” from the hit movie musical The Greatest Showman. Combining heartfelt vocal harmony with synchronized Makaton signing, their rendition created an overwhelmingly emotional atmosphere in the auditorium. The judges—Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon, and David Walliams—were visibly moved, as were members of the live audience, many of whom were brought to tears.
Golden Buzzer and BGT Success
Directly after their performance, David Walliams pressed the Golden Buzzer, showering the choir in gold confetti and securing their spot straight in the Live Semi-Finals. Throughout the remainder of the competition, Sign Along With Us continued to deliver deeply moving performances that highlighted message-driven songs about unity, perseverance, and acceptance.
Their journey culminated in the Series 14 Grand Final, where they finished as the official runners-up of the season, second only to comedic pianist Jon Courtenay. Beyond the competition, Sign Along With Us succeeded in their ultimate mission: raising widespread public awareness for accessible communication and demonstrating the extraordinary power of music to bring people together.
